The Tongadale Hotel offers comfortable accommodation and is located in the heart of Portree, the main town on the beautiful Isle of Skye.
A few minutes from the front door will take you to Portree’s delightful old harbour, where you can watch local boats land their daily catch. You can also enjoy a boat trip from which you can see some of our amazing wildlife – Seals, Dolphins, and Sea Eagles – to name but a few.
Our 25 bedroom hotel has a long tradition in island hospitality having been owned and operated by the same family for over 50 years. ALL bedrooms are En Suite and have complimentary Toiletries, Flat Screen TV, Hair Dryer, Kettle, Tea/Coffee and a Desk Chair and have Daily Housekeeping. All rooms are Non Smoking and there is an Iron and Ironing Board on request

All things nautical is the theme of our Bar/Lounge. This reflects a strong traditional tie between the Matheson family, the hotel owners, and the sea. These links include a close association with Bag Net Salmon Fishing, Prawn Trawling and more recently Fish Farming. You may well encounter some old seafarers yourself when you visit the bar and discover from them the meaning of the various charts, stained glass and memorabilia which adorn the windows, nooks, crannies and walls of the Bar and Lounge.
Our restaurant offers a varied dinner menu. We aim to use local produce including outstanding seafood – sourced from the pristine waters of north west Scotland. We look forward to serving you.

You will also discover a friendly atmosphere – one which takes on a very cosmopolitan flavour during the busy summer months. We also offer traditional entertainment in the Bar/Lounge and the sound of the fiddle and accordion can often be heard as you sample the atmosphere and hospitality of the “Tongadale”.
Within half an hours drive you will find places such as the iconic Dunvegan Castle with its excellent visitor facilities, the village of Uig from where ferries leave to the Western Isles, Talisker Distillery where regular tours of the facility take place – and of course the world renowned Cuillin mountains – a mecca for walkers and climbers.

Free Wifi available in bar and restaurant.
The hotel has no parking but there is a pay and display car-park located about 150 meters away (max 2 hours) and free parking about 350 m away (5 minutes walk)
