The Rock is located in the picturesque Forest of Dean, on the edge of the Wye Valley, which is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is a short forest walk from one of the finest viewpoints in southern England at Symonds Yat Rock. The River Wye meanders far below with spectacular far reaching views which has made it a very popular tourist destination since Victorian times. The forest was the royal hunting grounds of the Tudor kings and The Rock Inn, as it was formerly known, has its origin around that time. The Rock has not been a public house for many years but the two studios were built in what was the old skittle alley, and Forest Cottage is built on what was the site of the original stables for the old inn. The Rock has a large private car park (from its heritage as a pub). The two studios and the cottage all have private patios leading to their own entrance so you are free to come and go as you please. All have views over the garden across open farmland to the Ruardean Valley stretching 25 miles to the Malvern Hills.
Forest Cottage is semi-detached, next to the owner’s home with a contemporary styled, open plan living/dining/kitchen area on the ground floor and a large upstairs bedroom with a kingsize bed and and separate shower room. This cottage is dog friendly and dogs can be exercised in the forest.
Shop 2 miles, pub and restaurant ¾ mile.
