The Marquis is a 200-year-old former village inn which has been converted into a luxury boutique hotel and ine dining restaurant in the heart of Kent’s picturesque Alkham Valley, near Dover and Folkestone. Nestled in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, The Marquis offers a seasonally inspired menu created by their head Chef Stephen Piddock.
Supported by a team of chefs from some of the best restaurants in Kent, Stephen prides himself on his contemporary cuisine. The emphasis is on robust, fresh flavours and locally sourced ingredients – whether it’s the catch of the day landed by the local fishing boats, rabbit from the Alkham Valley, or wild herbs foraged straight from the countryside.
After an evening of fine food and wine, you can relax in boutique style luxury with an overnight stay in one of The Marquis’s ten individually designed bedrooms. The delightful Classic rooms offer splendid décor, which is both contemporary and stylish. All of our classic rooms have refreshing monsoon showers and underfloor heating. The comfort continues into the bedroom where you’d expect nothing less than superior Egyptian cotton and the very best mattresses. All rooms are equipped with the latest LCD TVs, DVD player and complimentary bottled spring water.
They are the perfect place to unwind after a busy day of work or sightseeing.
