Linden Cottage is tucked away in a quiet corner of the village of Newholm on the outskirts of Whitby. A perfect base to visit the North Yorkshire Moors and the east coast. The cottage has a large living room/dining room with plenty of space and light. It overlooks the fields and although next to the owner’s home it’s very private being detached with its own courtyard. Whitby is only a short drive and you have the option to use the park and ride on your way in. Whitby is a very popular coastal fishing town famous for its abbey which is on the hillside overlooking the town. With its quaint cobbled streets and old fishermen’s cottages its a great place to visit. The Cleveland Way follows the coastline making this area excellent for walking, within a few minutes you can be on the Cleveland Way trail. The steam trains travel from Whitby through the heather filled moors to the market town of Pickering stopping at Grosmont, Heartbeat country. There’s lots of traditional Yorkshire villages in the area with their local pubs, village greens and duck ponds. Further down the coast are the seaside resorts of Scarborough, Filey and Flamborough Head. The RSPB bird sanctuary at Bempton has hundreds of puffins perched on the cliff side. Travelling north there’s Robin Hood’s Bay and Staithes, both very quirky little seaside resorts with steep streets leading down a maize of tiny alleyways to the seafront where children can enjoy excellent rock pooling.
