Ideally located along the side of the beck, as you cross the wooden bridge, you will be enchanted by the charm and pleasant surroundings of Eliza’s Cottage. The property is set in a row of similar terraced cottages which have been featured in numerous publications for Lakeland’s prettiest properties. The owners have lovingly restored the cottage to a very high standard with your comfort and enjoyment very much in mind. The living room is bright and airy with crisp white walls, comfortable sofas and the warmth of a wood burner for those cooler nights. A kitchen/dining room has all you may need for meal times, but with the local pub less than a minute’s walk away, you could be tempted away by the homemade food and locally brewed ales on offer. If you decide to stay in and cook, the village store offers a range of groceries including fresh vegetables, traditional bottled milk, meat and wines. On the first floor, sumptuous beds can be found in the three bedrooms, ensuring a good night’s rest, whilst the family bathroom and ground floor shower room will refresh and revive you, ensuring you are ready for the day ahead. Outside to the front is a lawned garden with private parking for one car, whilst to the rear is a terraced seating area and a sheltered area with space and hangers for six bikes.
The village of Caldbeck is the gateway to the Northern Fells, boasting some of the best lesser known scenery and quieter fell walks, as well as being a great base for cycling. There is plenty of history here too, with the final resting place of the famous huntsman, John Peel, in the local churchyard, or the riverside walk taking you past the Priest’s Mill, now home to local shops and a café. Further along the river and you will find beautiful waterfalls and the picturesque ruins of an old bobbin mill. Just a short drive away is the popular market town of Keswick, 16 miles away, the historic city of Carlisle, 14 miles away, offering shopping, museums and of course, the castle. Bassenthwaite Lake is just a 20-minute drive away. Beach 20 miles. Shop 100 yards, pub and restaurant 25 yards.
