There is easy access into the ancient city of York from Grimston Bar park and ride, 7 miles. In York, visit the world-renowned attractions including the minster, National Railway Museum, Clifford’s Tower, Jorvik Viking Centre and York Castle Museum. Alternatively, stroll along the cobbled streets and city walls, and enjoy a river boat cruise along the River Ouse. The Yorkshire Air Museum and Burnby Hall Gardens are close by, and days out can be enjoyed at Castle Howard and Beningbrough Hall.
Take a scenic drive through the Yorkshire Wolds, which inspired the paintings of the famous artist David Hockney, or ride aboard the North Yorkshire Moors steam train from Pickering to Whitby. Easily accessible are Fountains Abbey and the Yorkshire Dales to the west, and the coastal resorts of Whitby, Filey, Bridlington and Scarborough to the east. Horse racing is available at York, Wetherby, Ripon, Thirsk and Beverley.
