Just 3½ miles from the market town of Huntly, in the heart of Aberdeenshire, this is an ideal central base for enjoying the beaches of the Moray Firth, just 1½ hours away, or the ski slopes of the Lecht, as well as the Nordic Ski Centre just outside the town and a popular Falconry Centre nearby. Visit historic Huntly Castle which is open all year, or try fishing on the scenic River Deveron which winds its way through the countryside (permits available locally). The surrounding Bin Hill forests, owned by the Forestry Commission, is open to the public for walking, horse riding and mountain biking. Alternatively, try sampling some of the whiskies that are produced in the region at the many distilleries open to the public. Beach 21 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 3½ miles.
