Kevin and Leah Vigars would love to welcome you to Carraw Bed and Breakfast, a luxury Four Star, Gold Awarded Bed and Breakfast guest house situated on the foundations of Hadrian's Wall, with a sublime hilltop setting overlooking the countryside of Northumberland National Park and the surrounding scenery of the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Carraw Bed and Breakfast is ideally situated for walking the Hadrian's Wall Path National Trail, cycling Hadrian's Cycleway or simply touring and experiencing the delights of Northumberland.
We are close to all the major heritage attractions along Hadrian's Wall including the Roman Forts at Chesters, Housesteads and Vindolanda. If you are looking for a relaxing or active break at any time of the year in England's Border Country, Carraw Bed & Breakfast is ideally situated to meet your needs. We will make you very welcome and ensure your stay is memorable.
Accommodation at the Farmhouse:
The accommodation, in the Farmhouse, consists of four south facing first floor letting rooms (named after the forts) – superior rooms: Chesters, Brocolitia and standard rooms: Housesteads and Vindolanda, offering a range of options including a family room.
All our rooms offer en-suite facilities with modern efficient showers (and some with baths), bathrobes, hairdryers, tea and coffee making facilities with full hospitality trays, remote control colour televisions (with Freeview and DVD/CD Player) and a supply of toiletries just in case things get forgotten.
Breakfast is served in our dining rooms from 7.30am to 8.30am (Monday to Friday) and 7.30am to 9.00am (Saturday and Sunday). Guests wishing to leave earlier, a packed breakfast can be ordered in advance to take away.
To start, we offer porridge and an extensive cold table of fruit juice, cereals and homemade museli. There is always fresh fruit and a selection of yogurts adorning the buffet areas for those wishing a healthier option.
A choice of freshly brewed cafetiere of fair trade coffee or fair trade tea is bought to your table.
Alternatively we also have available Hot Chocolate, Cappuccino, Espresso, Latte, Decaffeinated Coffee and Tea, Earl Grey Tea, Green Tea, Peppermint Tea, Red Rooibos Tea, Chamomile Tea and a selection of Fruit Teas.
A variety of freshly prepared white and brown toast is delivered to your table. To complement your toast, we offer a range of locally produced preserves.
We are pleased to offer our guests the facility to dine in, subject to availability. We are able to offer our Carraw Supper, consisting of a bowl of homemade soup, crusty bread and a freshly prepared Ploughmans Platter, using the finest local ingredients for £12.50 (GBP) per person.
Pre booking, at least 24 hours in advance, is required.
This is served in our dining room at 6.30pm.
We are licensed to sell alcohol, so why not enjoy a glass of wine or a local bottled beer with your meal.
